The Characteristics of a Beautiful Woman

What defines a beautiful woman?  What are her assets?  What develops the character of this wonderful creation named “woman”.  How did it all begin?  Well, let’s begin with what God’s word says.  In John 1:1 it says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John goes on in saying in John 1:2-5, “The same was in the beginning with God, he made all things, and without him was not anything made that was made.”  “In him was life, and the life was the light of men.” “And the light shineth in the darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not.”[1]

In the book of Genesis, God’s Word says, “So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.  The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”  That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.”[2]

Why did God make woman?  Because He did not want man to be alone.  His Word says, “The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” (Genesis 2:18) Now that you know we, women, were created by God and why, let’s speak on a woman’s assets.  Our bodies were designed not only to please our husbands, it is also designed to form and carry God’s implanted creation in our wombs.  I believe it is so beautiful when a woman is pregnant because it is that exact design, that bump, that beautifies God’s blue print of a woman’s body.  I also believe that sometimes our bodies cannot carry his design due to health reasons and there are other ways that a woman can nurture and give love to a child or children that need nurturing and love.

A woman’s beauty is also defined by her inner self.  I was raised to be taught the words by my mother that said, “Beauty is, is what beauty does.”  What she meant was, “If you are beautiful on the inside, you are also beautiful on the outside.”  That helps build character in oneself.  Not only is that motivating, it carries with you through your life as a woman.  However, we are also sinners and we will naturally sin and rebel.  It all started with the sin of Adam (read the book of Genesis).  With this sin, we are dirty, filthy, and not worthy.  The enemy has a hold on us and we will naturally rebel against God.  We will do things to displease God.  By, women, without the spirit of God, will lead their lives that will appease the flesh.  We will dress with immodesty and cause a man to lust and go after you for the wrong reasons.  In a lost woman’s mind, they feel that their body parts should be “revealed” to desire the attention they are seeking.  This is not ideal for a woman with ethical principles and has morality.  Immodesty is also a lack of being raised by Biblical standards and having a father figure in a woman’s life.  Since a young girl never had the affection from their father or lack a father in the home, they grow up to seek that love and attention by other men.  They look for love in all the wrong places.  I know this because I am a testimony.  I came from divorced parents.  I never had a father figure in my life therefore, I sought that love from a male figure, being lost in Christ.  Although I’d never dressed in a manner that would displease God (due to that implanted phrase my mother had told me about beauty is, is what beauty does), I failed at other things in my life.  At the age of 33, I was no longer blinded by God’s adorned love.  I had accepted God into my life and at that moment and time, the scales from my eyes were removed!  I was no longer in the dark, I was in the light!  Although I was raised in a Christian upbringing, I just never truly understood the concept of God’s word.  It’s a reason for that.  When you do not have the Holy Spirit living within you, you cannot appropriately understand what God’s word is truly saying.  Yes, it can be taught and drilled in you; however, it hasn’t a meaning within.  You can memorize Scripture no different than memorizing a line in a play until you really get it.  In order to really “get it” and “understand God’s Word”, you must repent of your sins and give up your worldly ways and come to Jesus!  Jesus is the “only way” to God.  It is not by our works so no man can boast, it is by God’s grace that we are saved.  It is by our faith which is God’s gift (Ephesians 2:8).

Ladies, when we live in the light, we dress like the light.  We know we do not have to gain attention by men by dressing immodest (revealing your body parts), we learn to dress modest yet we can remain sexy by “covering up”!  How you dress will attract what your flesh desires.  It will be based on lust and not the right reasons.  You should adorn yourselves as a beautifully wrapped package.  How exciting is it to see a beautifully wrapped gift! The most exciting part about a beautifully wrapped gift is seeing what’s inside!  A gift loses its excitement by already knowing what you’re going to get because it’s not WRAPPED and beautifully presented!  When you are a woman of God your light within is so bright that it attracts the attention of all walks of life in a good manner.  You are a testimony to others.  People tend to pay more attention to who you actually are inside than the outside.  Your inner beauty brings out your outer beauty.  As a woman of God, and having a close relationship with God, people tend to question about that light that you reveal of yourself.  That is also a testimonial chance to let the world know how you got that light from within.  In closing, I just want to say this ladies, if you have ethical principles about yourself, it will show in the way you carry yourself.  Remember, you will attract what you display.  YOU have a responsibility not only to yourself but to your daughter(s).  God’s word says, “Train up a child in the way they should go and when they get old, they will never depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6.

  1. Thank you for giving me your thoughts and blessings momma; I love you and I will always do the will of God as we as believers have a purpose. God expects us to use our Spiritual gifts that he has given to us and as you stated, God’s words says to “Go ye therefore and teach all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe all things in what so ever I command you; and lo, I am with you always even until the end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20

  2. Sorry I’m just reading this but I just wanted to comment and say I like what you had to say in this blog, it’s very important for women of all ages especially young girls/women to implement this in their lives. Their is nothing attractive about revealing your goods for the world to see, like you said it’s a special gift for your husbands eyes only. And honestly if most women had these same values it would be a lot easier for men not to lust lol
